About AFP-IN

The Association for Financial Professionals of Indiana (AFP-IN) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to advancing the treasury profession. AFP-IN is a regional affiliate of the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), a national association with similar aims and objectives. Our membership consists of both treasury practitioners and service providers, representing a broad cross-section of corporate, government, not-for-profit and service enterprises. Our members represent diverse industries: manufacturing, service, retail, public utilities, insurance, not-for-profit, real estate, financial services, wholesale distribution, government and higher education. Through its presence in Indianapolis, AFP-IN seeks to provide members with opportunities to remain current regarding treasury topics and issues, learn new skills, and network with other treasury and financial professionals. Session Title: Global Economy Update

Speaker: William Adams - Assistant Vice President and Senior International Economist, PNC Financial Services Group

William (Bill) Adams is assistant vice president and senior international economist for The PNC Financial Services Group. His responsibilities include forecasting economic conditions and exchange rates, covering emerging Asia, the European Union, Canada and Latin America. Adams serves as the principal spokesperson on global economic issues for PNC, and frequently presents to PNC clients on the international economic outlook.

Adams joined PNC in July 2011 after serving as resident economist for The Conference Board China Center from 2009 to 2011. In that position he served as spokesman on the Chinese business cycle and was a designer of The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for China®, a widely-followed, market-moving economic indicator. Adams lived in China for five of the past ten years and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

He serves as vice president of The Economic Club of Pittsburgh, is a member of the Economics Advisory Council of the Duquesne University Palumbo Donahue School of Business, and is an advisory board member and center associate of the University of Pittsburgh Asian Studies Center.  Adams is co-author with Damien Ma of In Line Behind a Billion People: How Scarcity Will Define China's Ascent in the Next Decade, published in September, 2013 by the Financial Times Press.

Adams holds a master degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and is a graduate of Harvard College.
