GREEN INITIATIVE
In an effort to reduce waste and decrease the use of paper products at the meeting, there will be no paper copies of session presentations or handouts at the event. One week before the conference you will be provided a web link to the available presentations. At that time, please review them and print the ones you would like to have at the conference. The presentations will be available online for 6 months after the event.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
AFP-IN has regularly supported a community organization at the conference. In 2008, suits and other clothing donations were made to Dress for Success and Horizon House. In 2009, AFP-IN held a food drive for the Chip Hoosier Memorial Food Pantry. AFP-IN will be supporting the community through the 2010 conference, as well, with a food drive to benefit Second Helpings, Inc.
Second Helpings, Inc. accepts donated perishable and overstocked food to prepare nutritious meals for thousands of hungry children and adults every day, and distributes them free of charge through local social service agencies in Greater Indianapolis. Second Helpings also trains unemployed and underemployed adults for meaningful careers in the culinary industry.
|
We're more than a soup kitchen or a food pantry - we're a community kitchen. We're not just teaching people to cook - we're providing an avenue for people to transform their own lives. We don't just collect food - we rescue food because we can't stand to see it go to waste when others have none. Today, the need is so much greater than we ever imagined when we began - so we'll go on undeterred. |
Second Helpings, Inc. prefers institutional size donations (large cans/jars/boxes), but will take any food donations as well as monetary donations. Donor receipts will be available at the conference.
